Today's track is from Richard Lee Wade Jr.'s March 2013 EP, "Players Theme." It's the perfect song to kick off this week's disco house mix tape. I've played it on repeat a half dozen times. It never gets old!
Originally from Michigan, Wade started to spin deep house in the mid-80s. At the same time, he maintained a radio show called, "Journey To The Land of House." As a result, Wade's popularity grew quickly and by the early 90s he earned enough to open his own studio and form the record label, "Harmonie Park." His first EP called, "Late Night Basix Vol. 1," was released on that label in 1994.
Since then, Wade has continued to enjoy immense popularity. He released more than 60 singles and EPs and produced 8 albums. His latest work includes the album, "With Me," (2013) and a whopping 7 EPs in 2014. It was so hard for me to figure out which of his latest tracks to share, because there are just so many f*cking good ones. This guy is a deep house genius. I finally decided on this one:
This track appears on the "Defining Deep" EP (Feb. 2014). Check out Wade's Facebook page and if you have an opportunity to see him play live, don't even think about it. Just do it to make me jealous. ;)
