Hey, guys! Here's a supremely chill tune to get you closer to the weekend. It's Track 2 from Johan Bengtsson's 2011 EP entitled "Elevator Music." Bengtsson made it a point of releasing this EP for free. I remember that there was a lot of anticipation surrounding the release once he had made an announcement about it on his Facebook page.
I think it's fantastic when artists do free releases or pay-what-you-want releases. It shows that they are in tune with the new ways in which people are listening to music these days. Their on board with that inevitable evolution, even in the face of potential lost profits. I guess you just have to weigh how much you love music (and sharing that music with others) with how much you love getting paid. Hehe.
Anyway, like I said, this EP is a free release, so if you like the track below, just grab the whole album! :P
Originally from Stockholm, Sweden, Bengtsson produced instrumental hip hop music under the alias Mitch Murder until 2007. Thereafter, he starting making music with a palpable 80's flare and decided to stick with it, as you can see from the track above.
Bengtsson's latest release is the "Glass Cities" EP of August 2012. I've got a snippet from the album set up below, for your listening pleasure. It's my first time hearing it as well and I don't even know how that happened. How did I miss this?! Arg. Haha. Anyway, it's very cool! I need to hear the full album!
Bengtsson updates his SoundCloud page frequently, so be sure to check that out for all the latest. (Apparently, I need to take my own advice on this one.. Haha.) Have a great day, guys!
