Signing off with a great track from Maps & Atlases' "Beware and be Grateful" album of 2012. This track also appears as B3 on their latest album, "Daytrotter." The group is based in Chicago and their music is heavily influenced by alternative, rock and experimental music. Some have even called them a "math rock" band. That's a pretty good label, if you ask me. Haha. :P
The band formed back in 2004 when the members (Chris Hainey, Dave Davison, Erin Elders and Shiraz Dada) met in art school. I should also mention that Hainey and Dada are Chicago natives, while Davison is from Indiana and Elders is from Wisconsin.
In 2006 the band self-released the EP "Tree, Swallows, Houses" and it received overwhelmingly positive reviews. Subsequently, the band toured this EP for almost two years and their first installment of records sold out. They released a second batch in 2007 which also sold out. Since then, the group steadily released singles, EPs and albums through 2013. Their latest album, "Daytrotter Presents No. 5" (Jan. 2013) is a collaboration that features three tracks the band released previously along with a cover of the Temptation's classic, "Ain't Too Proud To Beg."
I'll leave you with with one of my favorite tracks (I have so many!) from Maps & Atlases. It appears as Track 11 of the band's debut album, "Perch Patchwork" (2010). I had the privilege of seeing these guys perform live and it was such a treat. So, I found a live video to share with you! I hope you all enjoyed this week's tracks! I've got more awesomeness lined up for next week. Have a great weekend! :D
