Originally from Los Angeles, Jackson quickly made a name for himself as a rapper, producer and DJ in the late 90s. He released his debut album, "Shades of Blue" in 2003, although prior to that he had released about a handful of singles and EPs, including his debut EP, "Madlib Invazion" (2000).
Since 2003, Jackson has steadily released albums pretty much each year through 2014. His busiest year was 2010 when he released four albums. His latest releases consist of two albums, "Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Pinata" (2014) and a purely instrumental album called "Pinata" (2014).
Of the two albums, I like the instrumental one the most. The song above is Track 2 on that album.
