Aww yeah <3 Starting off this week of hip hop with a fantastic tune from Kwest's debut and only album to date, "This Is My First Album" (1996). I know. Awesome name, right? Haha :D This album is so good!
For many, this rapper from Queens, New York requires no introduction. Rick Rubin tore it up in the early to mid 90's with his songs that tell vivid stories and his talent for battle rhymes. In addition to his album, Rubin released several singles and a couple EPs from 1993 to 1996. He did a collaborative single with Gauge and Eddie Broke in 2002 called "718" which is really, really good. Things kind of drop off after that. Five years later, Rubin put out a compilation called "These Are My Unreleased Recordings," but as far as I know, he hasn't released any other songs since 2007. So, enjoy this classic!
