Here's an upbeat classic to brighten up your day. :D This track appears on Koufax's third album, "Hard Times Are In Fashion" (2005). For me, it's guilty pleasure indie rock: angsty with a touch of nihilism. :D
We all remember those days when life seemed to just drag. The days would run into each other and the monotony became utterly unbearable. You wanted something more. You always felt like you were on the cusp. You wanted to grow up fast and get your sh*t together, but despite your best efforts time just kind of stood still. Yeah, being a teenager can suck major donkey balls. >_<
For a lot of teens back in the day, Koufax made it all seem bearable. Their songs are therapeutic. Their sound is of a kind that you can mosh to. Just sweat it all out, lose yourself, maybe punch some unsuspecting douchebag in the face and then go home to sleep it off only to awake to the realization that nothing had changed except that your hand hurts like hell.
I don't know what happened to Koufax and it's a damn shame. The group started producing music in the late 90s. They released their first album in 2000 along with a collaborative EP with Reggie And The Full Effect. A few more albums, another EP and a single followed. However, things pretty much drop off after the release of their latest album, "Strugglers." (2008). You can listen to Track 5 below.
The group's Facebook page hasn't been updated since 2011 and their official website is nothing more than a broken link. I have no idea what if anything these guys are up to these days. They had a good run, though. They had a good run. Wow, this got somber real quick. Haha. I have a rather bittersweet track to share with you before the day is over, so check back. You'll want the aural palate cleanser. ;D
