Pump up the volume and the bass on the this one, folks! I'm starting strong with a choice disco house track from Knightlife. If you're sitting down, you better be rockin' in your chair and if you're standing up, you better be shakin' that ass! This track is B1 on Mike Gamwell's July 2009 self-titled release.
Gamwell's music career started with remixes of house music from artists like Midnight Juggernauts and Bag Raiders. In 2007, Gamwell caught the attention of Australian house music producers, Cut Copy. Not long after that, he found himself on the same record label as that group, Cutters Records.
Four EPs followed with Gamwell's July 2009 release (a sample of which you've already heard above) being the second in that series. In October 2012, he released his fourth EP entitled "Without Love."
It consists of an original and dub version of the "Without Love" track. Check out the original below!
I love that classic disco beat and female vocals. Usually, I stay away from vocal disco house because I find it annoying. Haha. I'm very, very picky. The vocals can be grating and distracting, but that's just me. Here, though, the vocals are soft, melodic and (most importantly) sparse. ;P This is a great track.
If you like what you've been hearing, check out Knightlife's SoundCloud page for his latest releases and remixes. It'll be disco house all week with some blasts from the past sprinkled in, so come on back!
