Oh, you know. I'm just throwing some garage into the mix, because I can. Haha. :D This is one of the first tracks I had ever heard by Peter O'Grady of Joy Orbison. After the first listen (and the subsequent repeat plays) I became hooked on this guy for life. It's from O'Grady's debut 2009 EP called "Hyph Mngo / Wet Look." Both tracks are just out of this world. You can hear the first one below!
Based in Croydon, London, O'Grady is a master of UK garage, techno, tech house, dub step and deep house. I find that his tracks expertly incorporate more than one genre to create a unique sound. This tendency to cross genre lines in his music production has led to confusion about how to classify each track. I've often mistaken some of his future garage tracks for tech house. You'll likely find heated discussions on this topic in Youtube comments. Of course, this isn't O'Grady's cross to bear. His aim is to make good music, not to make music that fits nicely into a particular musical category.
After the release of his debut EP in 2009, O'Grady released another small batch of EPs and a few singles. His latest releases include a collaborative tech house EP with Kassem Mosse called, "Think And Change: Plate Four" (Apr. 2013) and a garage single called "Donnell" (Apr. 2013).
Be sure to check out O'Grady's Facebook and SoundCloud pages for his latest updates! Enjoy and stick around! I've got a few more musical surprises up my sleeve for this week. :D
