Signing off with a fantastic experimental/dub step tune from James Blake of London. This track appears on the 2010 EP, "CMYK." It's the kind of track that takes you places. You start out standing at one point in your mind and by the time you're through listening, you've ended up somewhere else entirely. Blake's tracks are super thoughtful, cerebral, sometimes dark and sometimes incredibly chill. I'm a huge fan of his music, so I'm excited to introduce you to him!
Blake started out recording music in his bedroom while attending Goldsmiths, University of London in 2009. His first release was the "Air & Lack Thereof" EP of 2009, which consisted of two hard hitting and incredibly unique dubstep tracks, one of which got picked up by DJ Gilles Peterson of BBC Radio 1. Peterson invited Blake to do a special mix on his international radio show and things quickly took off.
In 2010, Blake started doing live shows with Mount Kimbie, where he sang and played the keyboards. I'm a huge Mount Kimbie fan (very similar musical flavor), so Blake's association with the group comes as no surprise. Since 2010, Blake released numerous singles and EPs. He put out his debut self-titled album in February 2011 followed by the "Overgrown" album of April 2013. Listen to Track 8 below!
