Ahhh my man, Freddie. <3 You sexy, son-of-a-b*tch. I first became acquainted with Freddie Joachim (pronounced JO-AH-KIM) in the Winter of 2012. I was looking for music to take with me to Costa Rica..something I could listen to while at the beach and I found Mr. Joachim, among other things. Listening to his music is like eating Pringles: Once you pop, you can't stop. Before I knew it, I had filled my iPod with his musical goodness and every time I listen to his tracks, they take me back to the white sand beach nestled in the jungle of Mal Pais. It was the Midway album (2010) that really hit the spot.
Mal Pais, Costa Rica (February 2012): Sunset was the most spectacular event. Being so close to the equator, the sun loomed above the beach and the surrounding village like a giant fireball. You could watch it descend toward the ocean and seemingly disappear within it. Rest assured, I had Joachim in my ears any chance I could get.
Joachim released his first album in 2008 and went on to release two more in 2009 and 2010 respectively. He has been active in the music scene since 2006, however, and has released a number of EPs since then. The track above is the first track on his 2011 EP entitled "Patiently." Also, there is a new, much anticipated album in the works that is slated for release sometime this year! It is called "Fiberglass Kisses" and there is no doubt that it will pick up where his soulful musical progeny left off.
