Starting off with a fantastic tune from Tomáš Dvořák of Floex. This is single from 1999 that appears on the "Infinessence" compilation of 2001. If you liked The Orb and/or 808 State back in the day, you'll likely dig Floex. It's the kind of music you'd expect to hear on a long journey through outer space. :D
Originally from Prague, Dvořák learned the clarinet from an early age and it became a key instrument in his music. He started producing electronica back in 1996, but he didn't release his first album, "Pocustone," until 2001. That album is highly regarded and it earned several awards.
In addition to churning out electronic music, Dvořák also creates soundtracks for games such as Samorost 2 and Machinarium. The latter game was regarded by PC Gamer in 2009 as having the best soundtrack. About a decade after the release of Pocustone, Dvořák released his second album, "Zorya" (2011). That album received numerous awards, as well. ^_^
Dvořák's latest release is the "Gone" EP (2013), a collection of introspective, ambient goodness. It's perfect to listen to while sitting on a park bench and watching the leaves fall from the trees.
That was Track 3 from the Gone EP. Fans of the indie game Braid will probably fall in love with this EP, since each track could easily be found in a video game. Of course, this should come as no surprise to anyone who knows Dvořák's penchant for soundtrack composition and story telling through music.
If you like what you've been hearing, check out his Facebook and Soundcloud pages for tour dates, additional tracks and downloads. It'll be the best in ambient and chill out all week! Stick around!
