Happy Monday and Happy XMAS Eve! This is Track 17 from Dela's November 2007 album, "Atmosphere Airlines." Dela produces only the finest in jazzy, instrumental hip hop and soul.
Born in France, Dela started making music when he was just 10 years old and he began to play around with the art of sampling when he was just 14. You can see from the track above that he has perfected that art, as he garnered one of his samples from Little Feat's track, "Fool Yourself," from 1973. Personally, I wouldn't see much to sample from this country/R&B/blues band, but well..that's why I'm not getting paid to make music. Haha. Dela weaves in samples from the Fool Yourself track beautifully.
I'll leave you with another favorite track. It appears as #7 on Dela's "Changes of Atmosphere" album which was released January 2009; and it's a collaboration with Talib Kweli called "Long Life."
So incredibly chill. First time I heard this track, I had to listen to it again and then again. It never gets old. Enjoy! It'll be jazzy hip hop and some more traditional jazz sprinkled in for the rest of this week.
