If you grew up in the 90's and you loved hip hop, then chances are you've listened to Blackalicious at some point. I'm excited to share some music from this group and this track in particular is one of my all-time favorites. This is a single from 2002 called, "Make You Feel That Way," and it's reminiscent of mid-90's "feel good" hip hop, i.e. hip hop with a positive message and an infectious, danceable beat.
Tim Parker and Xavier Mosley formed Blackalicious back in the early 90's. They produced a slew of singles and EPs since 1994, but did not release their first album, "Nia," until 1999. Three more albums followed with "The Craft" (2005) as their latest album to date. Track 11 of that album is below.
It's so chill and the lyrics and delivery are so spot on. :D Admittedly, I lost track of Blackalicious, as the group hadn't released anything new in seven years. However, word has it that Parker and Mosley are working on releasing an album and an EP this year! I know?! Holy sh*t, you guys! So stoked.
I don't know the title of the album, but I did discover that the EP will be called, "The Sun Giver." If/when these come out, you should totally jump on them! I can't wait to see how their music has evolved.
Until then, I hope you all enjoy these tracks. Blackalicious has an active SoundCloud page, so definitely check that out! Oh and Happy Friday! :P
