Yes. I remember the first time I heard this track. I was in the tiny upstairs bedroom of a large home nestled in the suburbs of Nishinomiya, Japan. It was a Friday night and I had finished studying. I believe I was stuffing my face with anpan and casually listening to the Release Yourself Radio Essential Mix by Roger Sanchez. It was May 2005. When this track popped up, my ears pricked and I pressed the button on my recorder. You had to be quick, man. If you don't get the track from the beginning, what's the point? Haha. You have to have an ear of this sort of thing. I usually know within the first few seconds of a track whether I'll like it or not. Anyway, I've carried this track around with me ever since, not even knowing the name of it. However, with SoundHound (all thanks and praise be to ye hehe), I got the track ID and you know what? This track hits me just as hard now as when I first heard it nine years ago.
You can find this track on the Jully Black 2005 remix EP called, "Stay The Night." There are quite a few remixes on there, but the 83 West version has always been my favorite. Jullyann Inderia Gordon aka "Jully Black" is a Toronto native. She got started in the early 90s and has been killin' it ever since. Her latest release is the hip hop/soul album, "Dropping W(8)" (2012). Be sure to check her out on Facebook! Happy Friday! Don't go too far. I've got one more track to share this evening!
