This track is a personal favorite and it's a perfect intro tune for this week of chill out, downtempo and lounge grooves. It's 4Hero's remix of a downtempo single by Azymuth from 1997. This Brazilian jazz/funk trio has been active in the music scene since the mid-70s and they continue to put out quality tunes to this day. A lot of their music has been remixed by greats such as Jazzanova, London Elektricity & Flytronix. I highly recommend checking out their discography and sampling more tracks!

Signing off with a classic from Calum Walker of Fresh & Low. The track below starts out in one place and ends somewhere entirely different. Love that! It's a supremely chill and enjoyable journey. So, it's perfect for a lazy summer day drinking on the deck. ;D It's from the "Little 'i'" EP (1997). Check it out! Fresh & Low started out as a trio, but eventually Walker was left to carry the torch. The group released its first couple of EPs in 1995 and their debut album, "Love Capsule Deluxe," arrived in 1998. Walker produced music under the moniker Fresh & Low for about another 13 years before calling it quits. His last batch of releases include three tracks from 2008. One of which you can sample below. It's a shame Walker stopped producing. He had a good thing going. I have yet to hear a track from Fresh & Low that I don't like. At any rate, I hope you enjoy these tunes! Have a great weekend! I don't think Miguel Steward needs an introduction. He's pretty well known in the house music scene, but if by some horrible twist of fate you've never heard of him, then click here. Hehe. Steward has been producing music for a long, long time. He released his first EP called "Mercury Lounge" in 1998. The track below is from Steward's fifth EP released in 1999 called, "The Night Affair." So, so good! That track is one of my favorites. I could listen to it all damn day. It's one of those "wait-for-it" tunes that rewards you for starting at the beginning without skipping. :D If you're a skipper, though, I'd recommend jumping to 3:42. Hehe. Since the release of The Night Affair EP, Steward has kept himself quite busy. He put out his debut album, "Colorful You" in 2002 and two more albums followed in 2007 and 2011. He produced a steady flow of singles and EPs through 2014. I'm saying over two dozen releases and many of them were multiples released in the same year. Steward's latest EP is "Mood Swings" (May 2013) and his latest single is "Down To It" (Feb. 2014). You can listen to the Down To It single below. :DDD It's obvious that Steward understands what deep house music is all about. He never disappoints! Be sure to keep up with him on Facebook and SoundCloud! Enjoy and happy Friday! |
