To Everything There Is A Season

Awww yeah! What?! I'm on the streets, ya'll! I got honked at and everything. :DDD Yes, that's right. I ventured out into civilization for this style post.  As it turns out, it was more convenient for me to get my photos downtown than in the usual (and less daunting) quiet neighborhoods and such. The first breakfast place we went to was packed, so we ended up going to the heart of town to find stuff to nosh on. One of my favorite coffee joints wasn't that far from where we ended up, so I just took photos across the street. :P Doing that was easier than driving back out of town to find a more isolated spot.

Ahhh, there's just no substitute for the awkwardness of trying to be natural while people stare at you. Haha. <3 Anyway, hey man! Check this out! I'm wearing that awesome ModCloth coat from this post! It's the perfect shade of green. Just looking at it makes me think of Spring/Fall, so I just had to wear it.

Picture

Did it snow heavily just the week before? Yes. Was it -17
°F at the time these photos were taken? Why, yes. Approximately how many f*cks did I give? None. Hehe. I'm determined to dress like it's Spring, so you can just deal with it, Gaia! >_< I wore four layers underneath my dress and tights and then I topped it all off with the super cozy coat. Yep. She didn't stand a chance! Gaia: 0, Human Burrito Anna: 1.

Picture

Angry much? Haha. Sorry! >_< At least the sun was out. I'm always happy to see the sun. It makes me smile. :D So, the dark brown knee high boots are from ModCloth, too. I got them during the Now Or Never Sale I told you guys about earlier in the year. They're so great, especially for the price I paid.

The oatmeal tights and floral dress are from ModCloth, as well. You know, I wasn't even trying to do a full-on ModCloth outfit, but I own so much of their stuff that I can't help it. Haha. >_< The dress is so fantastic. The colors and pale, subdued florals give it a palpable vintage feel that I just couldn't ignore.

Picture

The dress is a little bit short on me, so I wore a pale pink lace skirt underneath. The skirt is pretty awesome, too. It has a black exposed zipper that runs straight down the middle from waist to hem. For some reason, I've never worn it by itself. I bought it because I liked the intricate lace hem and I've primarily worn it underneath dresses and skirts to add aesthetic interest and additional length.

Picture

You might also recognize the lace collar on top of the dress. It's from the orange sweater I wore in this post.
:D The dress has a wide, open neckline and I felt like it needed that little something extra.

Picture

On the outside, I felt cold biting winds on my face, but on the inside I felt the warmth and promise of Spring. I wanted to create an outfit that reflected how I felt. I hope that I succeeded. <3

Blogger Spotlight #9: Style Files

Meet Suzanne Carillo of Style Files

Picture

Suzanne's style is colorful, eclectic, daring and honest. Her style is truly one that she can call her own and in many cases, I find her outfits difficult to emulate. This is a good thing. A very good thing. That element is crucial to rendering someone's style unique.

Her color coordination is fantastic and I really like her layered looks. I also
enjoy Suzanne's writing style. She has a great sense of humor and she's always willing to admit where she thinks she might have failed fashion wise. When that happens, she actively seeks ways to correct the mistakes.

I admire this kind of objectivity. Despite the image some super popular bloggers may portray, the fact of the matter is, none of us are perfect. Not even them. We all make mistakes that we (hopefully) learn from. I welcome these style mishaps, because they make my overall style better after a lot of thought and careful tweaking. The thing is, I don't intentionally publish those mistakes. Suzanne does. For that, she has my eternal respect.

Picture

Also, you may have noticed that I only post my styles along with the occasional awesome sale. If I've acquired a new sponsor, I'll divulge that bit of info, too, but that's about it.

I'm very to the point and probably to a fault, so I fear my blog doesn't have much in the way of variety. I just don't like "filler" posts. I care most about what people wear and how they wear it, so that's my main focus.

In contrast, Suzanne includes useful and engaging content alongside her style posts to keep her blog interesting. You'll find everything from style inspirations to home decor to photos from her personal life.

This content makes Suzanne's blog more well rounded and it gives you a better sense of who she is and what she values. So, I highly recommend checking out Suzanne's blog. She has a lot to offer!
Keep up with her on Facebook and Pinterest, too!
