Hi! I just wanted to share an outfit I put together for a coffee tasting
I went to the other day. It was a kind of hoity-toity shindig, so I decided to wear something I considered to be elegant, but also eclectic.

I've worn this amazing high-low black top before, but in a much crazier way, IMO.
I used this top to create a kind of post-apocalyptic look. Don't remember?
It's OK! Just click here to take a gander!

Here, I manipulated the black high-low top to look more elegant by coordinating bright colors around it. The blue/pink collared shirt contrasted wonderfully, I think.  I've worn this shirt so many different ways. Click here to see how I styled it previously.

I love this teal skirt, too. I think it's the perfect color and it makes the outfit pop. It's so bright that it just commands your attention. The black high-low top makes the skirt a little more interesting to look at, as well, due to the slight curvature at the bottom.

I added the red belt with shiny gold buckle to bring attention back to the amazing black top that this piece is essentially centered around.
I think, if my body were a canvas, the belt's function would be to divide it in half. So, you get two different perspectives with the black top as the foundation for both. :D

Normally, I would be hesitant to mix grey with black as they aren't the most interesting color combinations. However, I really think the slate grey finished off the outfit. The color doesn't steal the limelight from all of the others, but at the same time, it is still distinctive enough to be relevant. I don't think any other color would have had the effect I was going for and a black cardigan would have just been super boring.

The coffee tasting ended up being kind of a pretentious affair. Haha. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything other than that.
It was still a lot of fun, though. As a bit of a java fiend, the never-ending free coffee was enough to keep me from leaving early. ;P

so pretty on my birthday day! ;D I love pretentious things, Anna. if you are not pretentious (and you're not, for sure!) these things become to be cool! your style reminds me so much Marc Jacob design - old-fashioned but still so funky! <3

Oh, Edie! <3 I'm so glad you're back! I look forward to seeing more of your blog posts! I love your travel photos!

I guess it's because I know what it's like to be poor, so my priorities are a little different. Coffee tastings just seem like kind of a waste of time. Haha. However, I viewed it as something to do just to get me out of house. I'd never done anything like it before, either. So, it was..educational. Stuffy, but educational. ;)
